The
Munson Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center provides the most comprehensive
services for treating chemical dependency in adolescents in northern
Michigan. Our services are designed to achieve full recovery.
Office hours are from 8 am to 8 pm Monday through Thursday and
from 8 am to 5 pm on Friday. Appointments can also be made at
other times and our staff is always available to answer questions.
Our phones are answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Assessment and Referral
Services
A phone call to our Centralized
Access Center (CAC) begins the assessment and referral process.
If a more in-depth understanding of the problem is needed, an
appointment with parents and the adolescent is scheduled. A team
of professionals reviews results of the assessment, and recommendations
are discussed with the adolescent and parents. If outpatient treatment
or education is required, Munson offers services that are geared
specifically to adolescents and their families. If residential
treatment is recommended, help with a referral and placement in
an accredited program in our network can be provided. Adolescents
can then return to Munson for Aftercare.
Our trained clinician is on duty from 7 am
to 11 pm, Monday through Friday and is available for emergencies
at any time.
Aftercare Services
Lifelong recovery begins following residential
or outpatient treatment. A personalized aftercare program is crafted
for each adolescent to prevent relapse and encourage a positive,
drug-free lifestyle. Services may include individual, family,
or group counseling, in addition to community support groups.
Outpatient Services
Our Adolescent Outpatient Services are designed
to assist young adults in recovering from alcohol or other drug
abuse. Codependent family members affected by chemical dependency
and children of alcoholics are also treated. Individual assessment
by professionals is the basis for placement in individual, family,
or group counseling.
Drug and Alcohol Awareness Classes
Education is often the best place to start
when parents and their children face decisions about alcohol or
other drugs. Thats why we provide this five-week series
of classes. Adolescents participate in four one-hour sessions,
while parents attend a one-hour follow-up session. This format
encourages discussion and provides a safe way to get information.
Community Services
Since chemical dependency is both an individual
and a community problem, Munsons professional staff provides
educational lectures, seminars, workshops, and panel discussions
to promote understanding of the disease process, recovery, and
related concerns. Munsons commitment to the community is
reflected in local prevention and in sponsoring these events.
Adolescent counselors also participate in local Student Assistance
Programs by training and consulting with staff and by leading
groups at the local high school. Munson also offers an Education
Series in which staff members address current chemical dependency
issues. Please contact the CAC for current topics and locations.
