Northern Michigan is home to several festivals that highlight local cuisine and culture. You’ll find popular events such as the National Cherry Festival and Leelanau’s Wine and Food Festival. In the spring, there are two festivals celebrating morel mushrooms, a local delicacy, the Mesick Mushroom Festival and the Boyne City Morel Mushroom Festival. There are several music festivals including the Cedar Polka Fest, the Sleeping Bear Dunegrass & Blues Festival, and the Suttons Bay Jazz Festival. In northern Michigan, you’ll also find Kalkaska’s National Trout Festival and Houghton Lake’s Winter Festival, Tip-Up Town U.S.A..
